My brother Jack met a Japanese girl on gumtree who had a cajon to sell. They met up at Flinders Street station to exchange the cajon, and turns out the girl was a great drummer. She joined our band for a while and we played some utterly historic shows (even if it was only to small crowds). Believe me, there was magic in the air.
Gang, I write to you now burrowed deep in the process of making this new record. It has not been without its setbacks but that is creation - it seldom happens the way you anticipate, and if it does indeed go to plan, you feel like you’re missing out on some secret spice. I’ll talk more about the who, what, when, where and whys of the album in due course. Until then, I want to start talking about the how.
