Sometimes I like to press red and see what comes out. I don’t know which of the beat poets coined the term ‘stream of consciousness’ but it’s exactly what I’m talking about. You let go of any control and see what your subconscious mind can conjur. Anyone can do it at any time. I encourage you to pick up a pen with the hand you don’t usually write with and start writing. No one has to read what you write, just write the first thing that enters your mind, no matter how mundane, no matter how peculiar. No judgement. I guarantee it will start some sort of chain reaction that will lead you somewhere interesting, even if it’s the unfortunate conclusion that I, a one Harry Hook, am utterly full of shit.
